Connect the Cloudflare account your domains’ DNS lives in, and KT8 can make the fixes it recommends for you. You see every change first, nothing happens until you press Apply, and you can undo any change for 30 days.
What connecting does
When KT8 finds a problem with a domain’s DNS records, the domain’s page in your account explains it and shows the record you need. Without a connection, you copy that record into Cloudflare yourself. With one, a Fix it box appears on the domain’s Health, Email security and DNS tabs, and we make the change for you when you press Apply.
The fixes we can make today:
Add or update your SPF record, so the services that send your email are allowed to.
Add a DMARC record, starting at Monitor only, so no email is stopped.
Send DMARC reports to KT8, so you can see who sends email as you.
Move your DMARC up one level when your reports show it’s safe.
Press Connect Cloudflare. Cloudflare asks you to sign in, if you aren’t already.
Cloudflare lists exactly what KT8 is asking for: to see your domains and to change their DNS records. Choose the account your domains are in and approve the request. Leave both permissions ticked, or we can’t connect.
You come back to your account with Cloudflare is connected. Each domain in that Cloudflare account now shows a Fix it box when there’s something we can fix.
Domains in more than one Cloudflare account? Connect each one. Settings lists every connection with how many domains it covers and when it was last used.
What we can and can’t do
With your permission, we can
See the list of domains in the Cloudflare account
Read their DNS records
Change the DNS records a fix shows you, when you press Apply
We can’t
See or change your billing or payment details
Read your email or change email routing
Change your websites, Workers or SSL settings
Delete or transfer a domain
Cloudflare enforces these limits, not just us: the permission it gives KT8 only covers seeing your domains and editing their DNS records. We never change anything on our own, and we make at most 20 fixes a day on each domain.
Applying and undoing a fix
On a domain’s page, the Fix it box shows each change: the record as it is now, and how it will look after.
Press Apply. We read the records from Cloudflare again first. If anything has changed since you opened the page, we show you the new change instead of writing over it.
DNS changes can take a few minutes to show everywhere. We check the domain again for you.
Every change is listed under Changes we’ve made for 30 days. Press Undo to put the record back exactly as it was.
How we keep it safe
Cloudflare gives us a permission, never your Cloudflare password.
We keep the permission encrypted. It’s never shown in your browser, never shared and only used to read the records a fix needs and to make the changes you apply.
We keep a record of each change we make for you, so you can undo it and see what was done. See our privacy policy for details.
Disconnecting
You can disconnect whenever you like, and it stops working straight away:
In Cloudflare:My Profile › Access Management › Connected Applications, then remove KT8.
Deleting your KT8 account disconnects every DNS account too.
Changes we’ve already made stay in place when you disconnect. They’re ordinary DNS records you can edit in Cloudflare.
Other DNS providers
We’re starting with Cloudflare, and more providers are on their way. If your DNS is somewhere else, each domain’s page still shows the exact record to add, and the DNS checker tells you when it’s right.
Questions
Does connecting change anything straight away?
No. Connecting only lets us see your domains. Nothing changes until you press Apply on a fix.
Do I need a paid plan?
Connecting a DNS account comes with KT8 Tools, including the 14-day free trial.
Settings says a connection “needs signing in again”
Cloudflare’s permission has run out. Press Sign in again beside it and approve the request. Your change history stays.
