How we keep links safe.
Short links are popular with scammers because they hide where a link goes. We've built 8t.uk to make that hard, and to stop bad links quickly.
- Accounts onlyNobody can make a link without signing in with a working email address, and new accounts have daily limits.
- Every link is checkedBefore a link is made, we check where it goes (and every page it redirects through) against Cloudflare's malware and phishing lists.
- Checked again every dayA website that was safe last week can be hacked tomorrow. We re-check live links daily and switch off any that turn bad.
- No disguisesNo links to other link shorteners, bare IP addresses, look-alike web addresses or app installers, and no custom endings like "paypal-login".
- See before you clickAdd a + to the end of any 8t.uk link to see where it goes before you visit.
- Report in secondsAnyone can report a link, no account needed. Links reported by several people are switched off straight away while we look.
