KT8 Mail

In short: KT8 Mail runs on your own Cloudflare account, so your email never passes through kt8.com and we can't read it. kt8.com only keeps your email address if you join the waiting list or send us a custom work enquiry.

Who we are

KT8 Mail is an independent project run by paulobrien.com in the United Kingdom. If you have a question about your data, email privacy@kt8.com.

Your mailbox

When you install KT8 Mail, it is set up on your Cloudflare account and your own domain. Your emails, contacts and settings are stored there, under your control. KT8 Mail does not send any of it to kt8.com, and we have no way to sign in to it. Cloudflare provides the service under its own terms and privacy policy.

The AI assistant is switched off unless you turn it on. If you do, it uses Workers AI on your own Cloudflare account, not ours.

The installer at kt8.com/install

When you choose "Sign in with Cloudflare", Cloudflare asks you to allow KT8 to set things up on your account. If you agree, Cloudflare gives kt8.com a temporary permission. We use it only to:

If you leave "Let me email KT8 for help" ticked, the installer also adds hello@kt8.com to your approved addresses in Cloudflare, so you can email us from your new address on the free plan. Cloudflare then sends a confirmation email to hello@kt8.com, which may show your Cloudflare account's details. We use it only to confirm the address. You can remove the address in Cloudflare at any time.

If you type an address into "Email me my details when it's done", we send one email to it from hello@kt8.com with your web address and how to sign in. We use the address only for that email and don't save it, unless you also tick "Also email me about important updates". In that case we keep it with our waiting list, use it only for KT8 Mail news such as new versions and security fixes, and delete it when you reply asking us to stop. Cloudflare sends the email for us, so it keeps a short delivery record (the address and time) in our Cloudflare account's email logs, as any email service does. To stop the installer being used to send lots of email, we also note a scrambled (one-way hashed) version of your Cloudflare account ID and the time. Nothing else is kept.

While KT8 Mail is invite-only, each invite code is for one Cloudflare account. When you install with a code, we note a scrambled (one-way hashed) version of your account ID against it, so the code can't be used on other accounts. We also keep the name we sent the code to, so we know who we invited.

That permission is kept only in an encrypted cookie in your own browser, for at most 30 minutes. We hand it back to Cloudflare as soon as you finish or sign out. We don't save it, your account details or your domain list anywhere on our side (apart from the optional emails above). After installing, KT8 Mail keeps working even if kt8.com disappears.

Update checks in KT8 Mail

Once a day, your KT8 Mail asks kt8.com for the number of the latest version, so it can tell you when an update is ready. The request comes from Cloudflare's servers, not your browser, and sends nothing about you or your mail. If kt8.com can't be reached, KT8 Mail carries on as normal.

The waiting list

If you join the waiting list, we store your email address and the date you joined. We use it only to tell you about KT8 Mail, and we never sell or share it. When you join, we also get a short email at hello@kt8.com telling us your address has been added. Ask us at any time and we'll delete it.

Custom work enquiries

If you send an enquiry from our custom work page, we store what you typed (your name, email address, any business name and your answers) with the date, and email a copy to hello@kt8.com so we can reply. We use it only to answer your enquiry and talk about the work, and we never sell or share it. Ask us at any time and we'll delete it.

Cookies and tracking

kt8.com has no adverts and no tracking cookies. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies, doesn't follow you to other sites and only tells us things like which pages are read and roughly which country visitors are in. The only cookies are the two the installer needs while you use it. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser asks Google for them.

Where it is stored

kt8.com runs on Cloudflare. The waiting list and enquiries are kept in a Cloudflare database in Western Europe.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, which at most is your waiting-list entry and any enquiry you sent us. Email privacy@kt8.com. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes

If this page changes, we'll update the date at the top.
