KT8 Mail

Guides

Last updated 10 October 2026

You don't need any technical knowledge. Setting up takes about 20 minutes, plus waiting time if you're moving an existing domain. You'll need an email address you already use and a way to pay if you buy a domain.

1. Create a free Cloudflare account

KT8 Mail runs on your own Cloudflare account. Cloudflare is a large internet company that looks after a big share of the world's websites. The free plan is enough to start.

  1. Go to dash.cloudflare.com/sign-up.
  2. Enter your email address and choose a password. Use a password you don't use anywhere else.
  3. Select Create Account.
  4. Open the email Cloudflare sends you and select the link to confirm your address.

Tip: Turn on two-step sign-in. In Cloudflare, open your profile (top right), choose Authentication, then set up Two-Factor Authentication. Your email will live on this account, so it's worth protecting.

2. Get a domain, or bring the one you have

Your domain is the part after the @ in your address, like yourname.co.uk. If you don't have one yet, you can skip this step and try KT8 Mail with a practice address first.

I want to buy a new domain

Buying it through Cloudflare is the simplest option, because it's ready to use straight away. Cloudflare charges what it pays for the domain, with no mark-up.

  1. Sign in to Cloudflare and go to Domains.
  2. Choose Buy a domain (it may say Register domains).
  3. Search for the name you want, pick one that's available and follow the checkout.
  4. Your domain appears in your account, usually within a minute. You'll get a confirmation email.

I already have a domain somewhere else

You keep your domain where it is. You just ask your domain company to let Cloudflare look after its settings.

Before you start: if this domain already has working email (for example with Google, Microsoft or your web host), installing KT8 Mail will send its email to KT8 Mail instead. If you're not sure, use a different domain or ask us first.

  1. Sign in to Cloudflare, go to Domains and choose Onboard a domain.
  2. Type your domain, for example yourname.co.uk, and select Continue. Choose the Free plan.
  3. Cloudflare shows you two nameservers, which look like anna.ns.cloudflare.com. Keep this page open.
  4. In another tab, sign in to the company you bought the domain from. Find the domain's nameserver or DNS settings.
  5. If there's a setting called DNSSEC, switch it off first.
  6. Replace the existing nameservers with the two from Cloudflare, copied exactly, and save.
  7. Back in Cloudflare, select Check nameservers. It can take from a few minutes to a day. Cloudflare emails you when your domain is ready.

3. Install KT8 Mail

  1. Go to kt8.com/install and select Sign in with Cloudflare.
  2. Cloudflare asks you to allow KT8 to set things up on your account. Leave everything ticked and select Allow.
  3. Choose your domain. If you don't have one yet, choose Just try it first for a practice address.
  4. Choose where you'll open your mail. Most people keep mail, which gives you mail.yourname.co.uk.
  5. Select Continue and keep the page open for a minute or two while it installs.
  6. Select Open KT8 Mail. The first time, Cloudflare emails a sign-in code to the address you use for Cloudflare. Only that address can get in.

When you've finished, KT8 hands its permission back to Cloudflare. Everything you installed belongs to you and keeps working even if kt8.com disappears.

4. Send email to anyone ($5 a month)

On Cloudflare's free plan you can receive as much email as you like. You can also send to addresses you've verified in Cloudflare, such as your own. To send email to anyone, Cloudflare needs its Workers Paid plan, which costs $5 a month and includes 3,000 emails a month. You pay Cloudflare directly, not us.

  1. Sign in to Cloudflare's Workers plans page.
  2. Choose Workers Paid and follow the checkout.
  3. Go to Compute, then Email Service, then Email Sending.
  4. Select Onboard Domain, choose your domain and select Done. Cloudflare adds the settings that stop your email landing in spam.
  5. Open KT8 Mail and go to Setup to check everything shows green.

Sending more than 3,000 emails a month costs $0.35 for each extra 1,000. For most people that never happens. Cloudflare's pricing page has the details.

Common questions

Can kt8.com read my email?

No. KT8 Mail runs on your own Cloudflare account, and your email never passes through kt8.com. We have no way to sign in to it. Our privacy page explains what little we keep.

What does it cost?

KT8 Mail itself is free. Cloudflare's free plan covers receiving email. Sending to anyone needs Cloudflare's $5 a month plan (see above). A domain costs from a few pounds a year, depending on the ending you choose (.co.uk, .com and so on).

What happens if kt8.com closes down?

Your mail keeps working. Everything lives on your Cloudflare account, and nothing needs kt8.com to run.

Can I try it without a domain?

Yes. Choose Just try it first in the installer. You get a practice address so you can look around before buying a domain.

Is the AI assistant switched on?

No. It's off until you turn it on in Settings. If you do, it uses Workers AI on your own Cloudflare account, not ours.

Who can open my mailbox?

Only you. When you open KT8 Mail, Cloudflare emails a one-time sign-in code to the address you use for Cloudflare. Nobody else can get past that page. The one exception is download links for big attachments: the person you send one to can open that single file without signing in. Each link expires after 30 days, the file is encrypted, and you can add a password.

Can I have more than one address?

Yes. Add mailboxes such as hello@ or accounts@ from inside the app, and email to them arrives straight away.

Can I send and receive attachments?

Yes. Use Attach files when you write an email, or drag files onto it. Emails can carry about 3.5 MB of attachments in total, so KT8 Mail sends anything bigger (up to 95 MB per file) as a download link instead. The file is encrypted in your browser before it leaves your computer, the link expires after 30 days, and you can add a password. Send the password separately, for example by text message.

Can I bring my old email from Gmail?

Not yet. Importing from Gmail and other providers is coming. You'll download your mail from Google as a file and upload it in KT8 Mail's Settings.

Is my email backed up?

Your email is stored in Cloudflare's storage on your account. Nightly backups and a one-click download of all your mail are coming soon.

How is spam handled?

Cloudflare checks every email before it reaches you, and turns away mail that fails its basic forgery checks. Of what gets through, KT8 Mail puts mail in your Spam folder if you've blocked the sender, or if it claims to be from a company whose own forgery check (DMARC) it failed.

Open any email and use Block sender to send their future mail to Spam. In Spam, Not spam moves an email back to your Inbox and trusts that sender from then on. You can see and change your blocked senders, or block a whole domain, in Settings. KT8 Mail doesn't read your mail to guess what's spam; smarter filtering is planned.

How do I get updates?

When a new version is ready, KT8 Mail shows a notice at the top of your inbox. Press Update now, sign in with Cloudflare, and press Update KT8 Mail. Your email and settings are kept. You can also run the installer again at any time and choose the same domain.

Can KT8 get back into my Cloudflare account?

No. When you install, Cloudflare asks you to allow KT8 to make changes. That permission is kept only in your own browser, for at most 30 minutes, and is cancelled as soon as the install finishes or you sign out. kt8.com never stores it, so there's nothing it could use later. You can check this yourself: your Cloudflare profile lists every app you've allowed, and you can remove any of them.

Your inbox only lets in your own email address, with a code Cloudflare sends to it, so we can't open it either. Once installed, KT8 Mail only asks kt8.com for the latest version number and sends nothing about you.

The one time you trust us again is when you update. You give permission again, and the installer puts the new version on your account. That's why every version is listed on What's new, and why we protect the accounts we build KT8 Mail from with two-step sign-in.

Something isn't working. Who can help?

How do I remove KT8 Mail?

Everything lives on your own Cloudflare account, so you remove it there. It takes about ten minutes. Follow the step-by-step guide below. A one-click "Remove KT8 Mail" option is planned.

Remove KT8 Mail

KT8 Mail is made of a few parts on your Cloudflare account. Removing them deletes your KT8 mailbox for good. Your Cloudflare account and your domain are not affected.

Before you start: there's no download of your mail yet, so anything left in KT8 Mail will be lost. Forward any emails you want to keep to another address first.

In each step, sign in at dash.cloudflare.com and use the search box at the top of the page to find the screen named.

1. Delete the app

  1. Search for Workers & Pages and open it.
  2. Select kt8-mail, then Settings.
  3. At the bottom, select Delete and confirm. This also removes your mail and the web address, such as mail.yourdomain.co.uk.

2. Delete the storage

  1. Search for R2 and open R2 Object Storage.
  2. Select the bucket called kt8-mail. It holds attachments and settings.
  3. Cloudflare only deletes an empty bucket. Tick all the files and select Delete, repeating until the bucket is empty.
  4. Open Settings, select Delete bucket and confirm.

3. Stop email going to KT8

  1. Search for Email Routing and choose your domain.
  2. Under Routing rules, edit the Catch-all rule and set it to Drop, or point it at another address you use.
  3. If you won't use email on this domain any more, open Settings and choose Disable Email Routing. If you're moving the domain's email to another company, follow their set-up steps instead; they will replace these records.
  4. Under Destination addresses, you can delete hello@kt8.com if it's listed.

4. Remove the sign-in protection

  1. Search for Zero Trust and open it.
  2. Go to Access, then Applications.
  3. Select KT8 Mail, then Delete, and confirm. Do the same for KT8 Mail: download links if it's listed.
  4. Under Access, then Policies, delete the policies whose names start with KT8 Mail.

Your Zero Trust team name can stay; it's free and does nothing on its own.

5. Tidy your domain's records (optional)

  1. Search for DNS Records and choose your domain.
  2. The installer may have added a TXT record named _dmarc. Keep it if you'll send email from this domain another way; otherwise you can delete it.

Nothing to undo on kt8.com. The installer handed its permission back to Cloudflare as soon as it finished, and we never kept a copy of your mail. If you ticked "email me about updates", reply to any of those emails and we'll remove your address.
