KT8 Keep updated

Made in the UK

Everything from KT8 is made and run in the United Kingdom by Paul O’Brien: KT8 Mail, ReaderCount, KT8 Tools, Short links, Installs.dev and this website. It all works for anyone, anywhere in the world.

KT8 MailYour own email
  • Where it runs: in your own Cloudflare account, on your own domain name. Your emails, contacts and settings are kept there, never sent to us, and we have no way to log in to your mailbox.
  • Where it’s kept: Cloudflare stores your mailbox in a data centre close to where it is first used. For people in the UK and Europe that is normally Western Europe. Cloudflare does not offer a UK-only option today.
  • What we keep: only what the installer needs: your Cloudflare sign-in is a temporary permission used to set things up. See the privacy policy for the details.
  • Taking it with you: Backup & export gives you standard .mbox files any mail app can open.
ReaderCountPrivate website stats
  • Where it’s kept: on our Cloudflare account, in Western Europe.
  • Your readers: no cookies and nothing saved on their devices. Each visit is turned into a one-way code that changes every day, so the same reader can’t be followed from one day to the next.
  • Your account: your email address and the websites you add. Delete your account at any time and everything goes with it.

KT8 ToolsDNS checker, mail tester, speed test, Link Inspector, DMARC reports, QR codes, My domains
  • Where it’s kept: on our Cloudflare account, in Western Europe.
  • DNS checker: looks up public records. Your checks and reports are deleted after 7 days.
  • Mail tester: test emails are received by Amazon’s email service in Ireland, then scored here. We don’t keep the email itself, and reports are deleted after 7 days.
  • Speed test: old test results and screenshots are deleted automatically after 30 days, apart from the latest one behind any email report you asked for.
  • Link Inspector: reads public web pages and keeps each report for 30 days. The websites you’ve proved are yours stay on your account until you delete it.
  • DMARC reports: reports arrive by email through Amazon SES in Ireland, only for domains you’ve proved are yours. We keep what we read from them (never the files) for 13 months, then delete it. Reports uploaded without an account are read and never kept.
  • QR codes: plain codes are made in your browser, so nothing you put in them reaches us. Editable codes are short links, kept like any other (see Short links below).
  • My domains: the domains you add, your email address and your alert choices, so we can send the alerts you asked for, with the latest check results and the website’s recent outages. They go when you remove the domain.
  • Your account: your email address, your first name if you add one, the web address and install date of your KT8 Mail, and what you make with the tools. To stop abuse we note the time, IP address and country of sign-ins, email address changes, new short links and installs, and delete them after 90 days. Delete it at any time from your account page. It has nothing to do with your KT8 Mail mailbox.
Short links8t.uk
  • Where it’s kept: on our Cloudflare account, in Western Europe.
  • Clicks: counted without cookies. Like ReaderCount, each click becomes a one-way code that is thrown away every day.
  • Your links: kept, with your email address, until you delete them. Every link is checked for harmful destinations, and anyone can report one.
Installs.devInstallers for Cloudflare apps
  • Where it’s kept: on our Cloudflare account, in Western Europe.
  • What we keep: only the messages people send through its form, so we can reply.
kt8.comThis website, the community and the mailing list
  • Where it’s kept: on our Cloudflare account, in Western Europe.
  • What we keep: your KT8 account if you make one (see KT8 Tools above), your email address if you join the mailing list or the community, community posts, and messages sent to us. Visits are counted with ReaderCount, with no cookies.
  • More: kt8.com privacy policy, which also covers KT8 Tools, Short links and installs.dev

Covered by UK data protection law

Because KT8 is run from the UK, anything we do with your details is covered by UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. You can ask to see what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. If you are ever unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s independent data protection regulator.

The UK and the European Union recognise each other’s data protection rules, so people in Europe get the same level of protection.

About Cloudflare

All of our products run on Cloudflare. It is an American company, and it does not offer a UK-only storage option today. We will always tell you plainly where your data lives, rather than make promises we can’t keep.
