Coming soon: KT8 Blog, your own blog in one click

UpdatesGeneral2 min readBy Paul O'Brien

Your own blog, on your own account, set up in one click.

KT8 Blog is the next product we're building. It does for blogging what KT8 Mail does for email: you sign in, connect your Cloudflare account, pick your web address, and your blog is ready. It belongs to you.

Coming soon: KT8 Blog is being built now. We'll share more here on the blog as it takes shape.

Why we're building it

Most blogging services rent you a corner of their platform. Your posts sit on their servers, under their rules, and moving away later is hard work. Running your own blog has usually meant renting a server, installing software and keeping it patched.

KT8 Blog takes a different route. Your blog runs on your own Cloudflare account, the same way KT8 Mail does, so you own your posts and your readers from day one. There's no server to look after, and most blogs will fit within Cloudflare's free allowance.

What to expect

  • One-click set-up: the same simple installer as KT8 Mail. No terminal, no code and no settings to hunt for.
  • A proper editor: write and format posts, add pictures and organise them into categories, all from your browser.
  • Your own web address: use a domain you already have on Cloudflare, or start with a free address and add one later.
  • Fast everywhere: pages are served from Cloudflare's network, close to your readers wherever they are.
  • Private by design: no adverts, and no tracking added by us. Your readers' data stays on your account.
  • Easy updates: check for and install new versions from your KT8 account, just like KT8 Mail.

Built on open source

KT8 Blog is based on EmDash, the open-source blogging software from Cloudflare. We add the one-click installer, a starter design, help inside your blog's admin pages and updates through KT8. Because it's open source, your blog never depends on us to keep running.

What we're still exploring

We're looking at a "try it now" demo, so you can explore a working blog before you install anything. We're also looking at newsletters, so readers can get your new posts by email.
